Yesterday, I turned down yet another assignment. This has been happening frequently since I decided to stop accepting new assignments recently. It’s kind of a “happy” problem. On one hand, I’m glad that I am attracting a lot of clients who would like to work with me. On the other hand, I hate having to turn them away!

So I’ve been thinking, “Is there a way for me to get more things done and accept more clients?”

Here’s what I’ve been thinking of:

1. Oursource

I already outsource some tasks to a virtual assistant. Perhaps it’s time I thought of more tasks to delegate to her. I wish I could delegate thinking, conceptualizing and writing!

2. Get an intern

I could get a paid intern who’s interested in getting hands-on training in copywriting. This is a very attractive idea. However, it takes time and energy to find a good intern and then manage the whole relationship. After all, I would like my intern to take away as much as – if not more – from the arrangement as I would. But I am definitely considering this.

3. Get more productive

Now this I really need. One thing I’ve discovered recently is called “time chunking”. You set aside a specific period of time, at least 1 1/2  hours, to do one thing and one thing alone. And in that time period, you focus totally on the task. You don’t check Emails, go on Twitter, answer phone calls or anything! I used to have this time when DH was working in the afternoon until evening. But now that he’s working days again, my focused time has disappeared. My biz coach suggested time chunking maybe two evenings a week. I will discuss this with DH.

So those are my ideas for virtually cloning myself so that I won’t have to turn away clients any more. Got any more ideas for me?
